Ongoing part time work for fairly popular website (773,063 hits, 105,021 impressions, 30+ GB traffic in December 2007) dedicated to adventure travel, climbing, caving, rappelling, trekking, and other pasttimes. Dynamic version first built with Perl and Javascript on RedHat Linux and Apache 1.3. Current site is developed using a custom semi-template framework built in PHP on Linux and Apache 2.x and incorporating 4 3rd party PHP applications. Each application required various customization of HTML, CSS, and/or Perl code. Included an RSS feed and social news / bookmarking chicklets. Also incorporated Google Adsense and Amazon affiliate programs. Managed transition from static HTML to Perl to CSS and PHP over the website's lifespan. Responsible for all design and graphics work as well. The complete web presence also includes Blogger and Wordpress blogs used as "feeders" and search engine optimizers. Current development site is running Apache on Mac OS X.

Onsite consultant for an Ecuador based travel agency and bed & breakfast. Responsible for desktop Linux installation / maintenance and improving search engine ranking. Main task was to rebuild some sections of the site to improve the consistency of website presentation across browser, OS, and screen resolutions. Due to the sheer number of static pages, many Perl programs were used to bulk reformat webpages with server side includes and cleaner, standardized HTML. Also created a Perl program to mass produce redirect HTML pages for URL changed URLs. Project cancelled before going live with changes.
